Adapted Recreation Programs Abbotsford Fall 2009

Over seven Abbotsford organisations will be offering adapted recreation programs for children with special needs in the Fall 2009. Recreational program include swimming, multi-sports, cheerleading, gymnastics, dance, cooking, arts and a youth zone. Access Abbotsford goes to Prince George

Access Abbotsford has been asked to present and share their story at the upcoming Measuring Up The North Conference on April 6 & 7. Co-Chairs of the Access Abbotsford Group will show case the community of Abbotsford and their initiatives around promotion universal access and inclusion for all residents. In attendance will be over 180 community leaders from across British Columbia, Canada and the USA.

Adapted Swimming Lessons Available

Matsqui Recreation Centre has introduced several adapted swimming programs for children with special needs. The classes will accomodate 4 children per instructor and focus on basic swim skills and water safety. Please phone 604.855.0500 for more information.

New Pilot Program Launched

Access Abbotsford is proud to support the launch of an After School Program for children with disabilities. For more information, see the above poster note. This pilot program is the result of our community voicing their desire for this program.
